Background

Thomas is a medical doctor trained at the University of Copenhagen (2020), with experience from studying mathematics at the Technical University of Denmark prior to medical school. Following several years of clinical practice, he transitioned into clinical research and is currently enrolled as a PhD student at the University of Copenhagen (2024–).

His research sits at the intersection of pharmacoepidemiology and machine learning, with a particular focus on adverse drug reactions and pharmacovigilance. He is a member of the Danish Pharmacovigilance by AI Real-time Analysis (PHAIR) group, where he works with data-driven methods to improve drug safety research.

Thomas is visiting the Health Data Science group to extend his work to new data sources, including the IPCI database and the OMOP Common Data Model. This collaboration brings together the PHAIR group's expertise with the Health Data Science group's knowledge of large-scale federated data infrastructures and real-world evidence generation. By drawing on the strengths of both groups, Thomas aims to conduct robust multinational research on adverse drug reactions — ultimately contributing to safer prescribing for patients across Europe.
