Matthijs obtained his MSc in Econometrics at the Erasmus University of Rotterdam in 2021 with a thesis on mortality hazard of critically ill Covid-19 patients. Though having done his master’s research in healthcare, Matthijs pursued a career as Data Scientist in business for 4 years after coming home at Health Data Science in the Erasmus MC. Here, he strives to put quantitative evidence into practise and thereby contributing to the ambition of the hospital to “keep people healthy longer, make them suffer less from complications and reduce the workload”.
