Giorgia Pellegrini, MSc PhD Student Email: |
Background
Giorgia holds both an MSc (2023) and a BSc (2021) in Statistics from Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna, Italy. Even with a strong methodological background, she has always been interested in the practical application of her studies.
In her BSc thesis, she analysed the effect of non-pharmaceutical interventions on COVID-19 in Italy, while her MSc thesis, completed within the Pharmacoepidemiology research group at the University of Verona, focused on switching patterns between biological drugs using federated databases.
In 2023, Giorgia became a research assistant at the University of Verona, where she focused on the analysis of healthcare claims databases. A key aspect of her work was the development of causal inference frameworks to analyse observational data.
In 2025, she joined the Department of Medical Informatics at Erasmus MC as a PhD student, focusing on the application of causal inference-based models to pharmacoepidemiological studies using real-world data.
