Background

Dr. Aida Perramon-Malavez is a Postdoctoral Researcher with a focus on Pharmacoepidemiology and Public Health. She is part of the GREG project, where her goal is to advance Real World Evidence methods and regulations to improve the safety and rapidness of medicine and devices commercialization. In her PhD thesis (2025) 'Respiratory viruses in childhood: surveillance, analysis, and modelling of their epidemiological dynamics. The case of Catalonia", she focused on the characterisation and understanding of the dynamics of SARS-CoV-2, influenza, and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) in children in Catalonia over the last decade. Through a combination of empirical epidemiological analyses and dynamic modelling approaches, the study explored how the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the seasonality and interaction patterns of respiratory viruses, altering their epidemiological behaviour and public health impact.

Previously, she obtained a bachelor in Engineering Physics (2020, Polytechnical University of Catalonia), a master in Computational Biomedical Engineering (2021, Pompeu Fabra University) and a master in Biostatistics and Bioinformatics (2023, Open University of Catalonia and Universitat de Barcelona). She wrote her latest master thesis on the effectiveness of nirsevimab immunoprophylaxis against RSV-related outcomes in hospital care settings. She worked as a data scientist at the Catalan Healthcare Institute, where she investigated the epidemiological dynamics and interactions of viral-, bacterial- and parasite-caused diseases in Catalonia.
